Ev Uptake

Extracellular vesicle (EV) uptake is the process by which recipient cells internalize or incorporate membrane-bound vesicles released by other cells, enabling intercellular communication. EVs can bind surface receptors, enter through endocytosis, or fuse directly with the plasma membrane, delivering proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids to the recipient cell. In cancer research, EV uptake helps explain how tumor and stromal cells exchange signals that influence proliferation, invasion, immune regulation, and treatment response. Measuring and manipulating this process supports the development of biomarkers, drug-delivery systems, and strategies to interrupt tumor-promoting communication within the microenvironment.
