Facs Tube

A FACS tube is a laboratory vessel used to collect, prepare, and transport cell suspensions for fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) and flow cytometry. Cells are typically incubated in the tube with fluorescently labeled antibodies, washed to remove unbound reagents, and resuspended before entering the instrument, where hydrodynamic focusing aligns individual cells for laser-based detection and analysis. In immunology and infection research, FACS tubes support the identification and sorting of immune-cell populations, pathogen-infected cells, and cells expressing specific surface or intracellular markers. Proper labeling, sample handling, and low-clumping suspensions improve measurement quality and enable downstream functional or molecular studies.

Fibroblast behavior underlies a spectrum of clinical entities, but they remain poorly characterized, largely due to their inherent heterogeneity. Traditional fibroblast research relies upon in vitro manipulation, masking in vivo fibroblast behavior. We describe a FACS-based protocol for the isolation of mouse skin fibroblasts that does not require cell culture.

Emergency chest tube insertion is performed for definitive treatment of tension pneumothorax, traumatic hemothorax, large-volume pleural effusions, and empyemas. Irrespective of the cause of air and fluid accumulation in the pleural space, the...
