Mouse Endothelial Cells

Mouse endothelial cells are vascular lining cells that regulate blood flow, vessel permeability, and communication between the circulation and surrounding tissues. They form selective barriers through cell-cell junctions and respond to inflammatory signals by altering adhesion molecules, chemokines, and permeability, enabling leukocytes to attach, migrate, and enter infected or damaged sites. In immunology and infection research, cultured mouse endothelial cells help model leukocyte trafficking, vascular inflammation, pathogen interactions, and tissue-specific immune responses. These models support investigation of host-pathogen mechanisms and evaluation of interventions that influence endothelial activation, barrier integrity, and inflammatory vascular injury.

We present a preparation for visualizing and manipulating calcium signaling in native, intact microvascular endothelium. Endothelial tubes freshly isolated from mouse resistance arteries supplying skeletal muscle retain in vivo morphology and dynamic signaling within and between neighboring cells. Endothelial tubes can be prepared from microvessels of other tissues and organs.
