Live Births

Live births are deliveries in which a newborn shows signs of life, such as breathing, heartbeat, or voluntary movement, regardless of gestational age. In medicine, a live birth follows labor and delivery, during which coordinated uterine contractions promote cervical dilation and expulsion of the fetus, followed by neonatal transition to independent breathing and circulation. Live-birth data support assessment of fertility, pregnancy outcomes, maternal and newborn health, and population trends. Clinicians and researchers use these records to monitor prenatal and intrapartum care, evaluate perinatal risks, guide health services, and identify disparities in reproductive and neonatal outcomes.

Vasectomy is a surgical form of male sterilization that involves severing and sealing the vasa deferentia, preventing sperm from mixing with semen during ejaculation. Because a vasectomy does not impact the testes' ability to produce testosterone, hormone levels, libido, and sexual function generally remain unchanged. While vasectomy is highly effective in preventing pregnancy, with a success rate near 99.85%, rare cases of recanalization (spontaneous reconnection) can occur. Although vasectomy...
