Moving-shot Technique

The moving-shot technique is an image-guided medical procedure in which an operator systematically shifts an active needle or probe through a target, treating it in successive overlapping sections rather than from one fixed position. During radiofrequency ablation, for example, the electrode delivers thermal energy at one location and then moves to adjacent regions as tissue response and target coverage guide the sequence, creating a continuous ablation zone while limiting untreated margins. In clinical medicine, this approach is used particularly for focal lesions such as benign thyroid nodules and can improve treatment coverage, reduce residual viable tissue, and support minimally invasive care. Its effectiveness depends on imaging, probe placement, energy control, and operator skill.

Time Multiplexing Super Resolving Technique for Imaging from a Moving Platform

2014

A method for overcoming the optical diffraction limit is presented. The method includes a two-step process: optical phase retrieval using iterative Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, and imaging system shifting followed by repetition of the first step. A synthetically increased lens aperture is generated along the direction of movement, yielding higher imaging resolution.

Strategic Moves: Side Payments

2025

Side payments are a strategic move in sequential games where one player offers a benefit to another to encourage cooperation. This tactic adjusts the payoffs for both players, making it more appealing for the opponent to choose an action that is beneficial for both players. It helps shift the dynamics of the game, leading to outcomes that are more favorable than those achieved through competition. Consider two telecommunications companies, TelNet and SignalMax, that are planning to expand into...

The goal of this protocol is to assess systemic blood pressure in conscious freely moving mice using implantable radio-telemetry devices.

Recording Brain Signals from Freely Moving Piglets

This video demonstrates the recording of brain signals from a freely moving piglet. The piglet's head is cleaned, and the electrodes are attached. These electrodes are then connected to a telemetry unit. The setup is secured with silicone rubber. The piglet is allowed to acclimate before data recording.

Magnetic Field due to Moving Charges

A stationary charge creates and interacts with the electric field, while a moving charge creates a magnetic field. Consider a point charge moving with a constant velocity. Like the electric field, the magnetic field at any point is directly proportional to the magnitude of the charge and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the source point and the field point. However, unlike the electric field, the magnetic field is always perpendicular to the plane containing the line...
