Reversible Uuo Model

The reversible UUO model is an experimental kidney disease model in which unilateral ureteral obstruction is created temporarily and then relieved, allowing researchers to study both renal injury and recovery. During the obstruction period, impaired urine flow raises pressure within the affected kidney and triggers tubular damage, inflammation, and interstitial fibrosis; releasing the blockage enables assessment of how these changes evolve after decompression. In medicine and nephrology, this model is used to investigate obstructive nephropathy, compare injury and repair responses, and evaluate candidate therapies that target fibrosis or preserve renal function. Its reversible design helps distinguish persistent damage from changes that improve after obstruction is removed.

The murine model of irreversible unilateral ureteric obstruction (UUO) is presented together with the model of reversible UUO in which the ureteric obstruction is relieved by anastomosis of the severed ureter into the bladder. These models enable the study of renal inflammation and scarring as well as tissue remodeling.

Creation of Reversible Cholestatic Rat Model

Cholestasis is a clinical condition commonly encountered by both surgeons and gastroenterologists. Creation of a reversible cholestatic rat model can be challenging in view of the smaller size and unique hepatopancreatobiliary anatomy in rats. This video article demonstrates the creation of a reversible cholestatic model.

Modeling of Diode Reverse Characteristics

2024

In electronic circuits, reverse-biased diode configurations are critical for regulating voltage levels. Zener diodes exploit the reverse breakdown phenomenon and exhibit a controlled breakdown at a specific Zener voltage (VZ). They are designed to maintain a constant voltage across their terminals and are commonly used for voltage regulation in circuits. When a reverse voltage applied to a Zener diode exceeds its breakdown voltage, the diode enters the breakdown region. At this point, the...

In honey bee workers, aging depends on social behaviors rather than on chronological age. Here we show how worker-types with very different aging patterns can be obtained and analyzed for cellular senescence.

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is indicated for the treatment of conditions that cannot be treated with conventional arthroplasty or other procedures. These primarily include degenerative and incapacitating conditions with irreparable rotator cuff and loss of the normal biomechanical coupling of the shoulder.
