Cell Type Quantification

Cell type quantification is the measurement of the abundance, distribution, and proportions of distinct cell populations in a biological sample. In neuroscience, it typically combines cell-specific markers with microscopy, image analysis, flow cytometry, or sequencing to identify cells and calculate their numbers or relative frequencies. These measurements can distinguish neurons, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, microglia, and other populations across brain regions or experimental conditions. Accurate quantification helps characterize neural tissue organization, track development and disease-associated changes, evaluate experimental models, and assess how treatments alter cellular composition.

T Cell Types and Functions

2024

When T cells with CD4 markers are activated, they give rise to two types of effector cells: helper T cells and regulatory T cells. Meanwhile, T cells with CD8 markers differentiate into effector cytotoxic T cells. The differentiation of CD4 T cells into helper T cell subsets, such as Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells, is dependent on the antigen type, antigen-presenting cell, and regulatory cytokines. Th1 cells stimulate dendritic cells to express necessary co-stimulatory molecules on their surfaces for...
