Silicone Glue

Silicone glue is an adhesive made from silicone polymers that bonds, seals, and protects materials while remaining flexible, making it useful where movement, moisture, and temperature changes could weaken rigid adhesives. It typically cures when moisture or a chemical catalyst links silicone molecules into an elastic, cross-linked network that adheres to surfaces and forms a durable seal. In neuroscience, silicone glue can help secure or encapsulate components of neural interfaces, seal experimental assemblies, and stabilize materials used around delicate tissue. Its flexibility and electrical insulation can support device integrity, although curing conditions, biocompatibility, and possible chemical interactions must be considered in research and clinical applications.

We describe the simplest protocol to prepare biodegradable medical glue that has an effective hemostatic ability. TAPE is a water-immiscible supramolecular aggregate prepared by mixing of tannic acid, a ubiquitous compound found in plants, and poly(ethylene) glycol, yielding a 2.5 times greater water-resistant adhesion compared with commercial fibrin glue.

Fabrication and Optimization of Type II Silicon Clathrate Films

2025

The two-thermal annealing method enables the fabrication of thin films of type II semiconductor silicon clathrate. Post-synthesis treatments, including thermal pressing and reactive ion etching, were performed to improve the material properties. This approach provides an accessible pathway for fabricating tunable clathrate films suitable for next-generation electronic and photonic devices.

This protocol aims to alleviate the limitation of poor cell engraftment for stem cell treatment of myocardial infarctions through the use of a hydrogel system and a fibrin-based glue. With this approach, cell-to-tissue contact post-infarction can be maintained, increasing the therapeutic potential of beneficial agents at the site of injury.

Here we describe a simple method for patterning oxide-free silicon and germanium with reactive organic monolayers and demonstrate functionalization of the patterned substrates with small molecules and proteins. The approach completely protects surfaces from chemical oxidation, provides precise control over feature morphology, and provides ready access to chemically discriminated patterns.
