Multimodal Integrative Approaches

Multimodal integrative approaches are medical strategies that combine complementary forms of evidence and care to understand and manage a patient’s health more comprehensively than any single modality can. They integrate information such as clinical history, physical examination, laboratory results, imaging, genomic data, and patient-reported outcomes, while coordinating interventions across relevant medical disciplines and, when appropriate, complementary practices. This synthesis supports individualized diagnosis, treatment planning, risk assessment, and monitoring, particularly when disease is complex or influenced by biological, behavioral, and social factors. By linking diverse inputs into a coordinated care framework, multimodal approaches can strengthen clinical decision-making and help researchers evaluate outcomes across multiple dimensions of health.

Multimodal Approach to Assess Bone Regeneration and Scaffold Performance

2026

We propose a protocol for assessing bone regeneration at various hierarchical levels. This multimodal approach allows for structural analysis across different length scales, effectively addressing challenges in sample preparation. It also provides a reliable workflow for evaluating the effectiveness of biomaterials in promoting bone regeneration.

We detail a new near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) catheter for 2-dimensional intravascular molecular imaging of plaque biology in vivo. The NIRF catheter can visualize key biological processes such as inflammation by reporting on the presence of plaque-avid activatable and targeted NIR fluorochromes. The catheter utilizes clinical engineering and power requirements and is targeted for application in human coronary arteries. The following research study describes a multimodal imaging strategy...
