Carpal Tarsal Analysis

Carpal Tarsal Analysis is the systematic study of the carpal bones of the wrist and tarsal bones of the ankle and foot, with emphasis on their structure, alignment, and mechanical function. In bioengineering, it combines anatomical assessment with measurements of bone geometry, joint motion, and load distribution to evaluate how these interconnected elements support movement and stability. This analysis can use medical imaging, motion tracking, and computational modeling to identify abnormal alignment, estimate forces, and compare healthy and impaired mechanics. Findings support orthopedic device design, injury assessment, surgical planning, rehabilitation, and the development of biomechanical models for personalized care.

Metacarpal Small Incision for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

2024

Carpal tunnel decompression with transverse carpal ligament transection is a very successful treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The standard long-curved incision technique has become the best treatment for median nerve entrapment decompression. Here we introduce the metacarpal small incision carpal tunnel release (MSICTR) in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

Screening of Axonal Degeneration in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Using Ultrasonography and Nerve Conduction Studies

Here we present a protocol using nerve conduction studies and ultrasound to screen potential axonal degeneration associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. The criteria for differentiation are established. Compared to conventional approaches, this method is noninvasive, convenient, and efficient, with an overall satisfactory accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.

This article describes a novel protocol and reagent set designed for sensitive measurement of neurotoxic effects of compounds and treatments on co-cultures of neurons and astrocytes using high content analysis. Results demonstrate that high content analysis represents an exciting novel technology for neurotoxicity assessment.

Automated Analysis of Intracellular Phenotypes of Salmonella Using ImageJ

2022

Salmonella invades and replicates inside intestinal epithelial cells both in Salmonella-specific vacuoles and free in the cytosol (hyper-replication). A high-throughput fluorescence microscopy-based protocol is described here to quantify the intracellular phenotypes of Salmonella by two complementary image analyses through ImageJ, reaching single-cell resolution and scoring.
