Domain Wall Movement

Domain wall movement is the displacement of the boundary separating regions, or domains, with different magnetic orientations in a material, a process that enables controlled changes in magnetization. An applied magnetic field or spin-polarized electrical current exerts a driving force on the wall, while material defects and interfaces can pin it and alter its speed, stability, and path. In bioengineering, this behavior supports the design of magnetic sensors, micro- and nanoscale actuators, and magnetically controlled biomedical devices. Understanding domain wall dynamics helps researchers improve device responsiveness, reduce energy requirements, and develop more precise technologies for diagnostics, imaging, and targeted therapeutic systems.

Conservation of Protein Domains Over Different Proteins

2020

Protein domains are small structurally independent units that are part of a single amino acid chain. Although these domains are often structurally independent, they may rely on synergistic effects to perform their functions as part of a larger protein. Protein domains may be conserved within the same organism, as well as across different organisms. A limited set of protein domains often duplicate and recombine during evolution. These domains can be organized in different combinations to form...

2012

A technique called Comprehensive Microarray Polymer Profiling (CoMPP) for the characterisation of plant cell wall glycans is described. This method combines the specificity of monoclonal antibodies directed to defined glycan-epitopes with a miniature microarray analytical platform allowing screening of glycan occurrence in a broad range of biological contexts.

Eye Movement Monitoring of Memory

Eye movement monitoring (or eye tracking) reveals where in space the eyes linger, when and for how long. Here, we demonstrate how eye tracking can be used to investigate the integrity of memory in multiple participant populations, without requiring verbal, or otherwise explicit, reports.

Three-Domain System of Life

Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequence analysis revealed three distinct groups of cells: eukaryotes, bacteria, and archaea. In 1978, Carl R. Woese proposed the concept of domains, a taxonomic level above kingdoms, to differentiate these groups. He suggested that archaea and bacteria, despite their similar appearance, represent separate domains. Domains differ in rRNA, membrane lipid structure, transfer RNA, and antibiotic sensitivity. In this classification, animals, plants, and fungi belong to the...

Three Developmental Domains

2025

Human development is typically examined across three main domains: physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional. These domains represent the significant areas of change and continuity throughout the lifespan, from infancy to late adulthood. Physical Development Physical processes, also known as maturation, encompass the biological changes that occur across an individual's life. These changes begin with genetic inheritance and continue through various stages, including growth in height and weight,...
