Incomplete Freund's Adjuvant

Incomplete Freund's Adjuvant (IFA) is an immunological formulation that enhances responses to a co-administered antigen without containing mycobacterial components, making it distinct from Complete Freund's Adjuvant. It forms a water-in-oil emulsion, creating a localized antigen depot that slows antigen release and promotes inflammatory signals and recruitment of immune cells at the injection site. In immunology and infection research, IFA is used to strengthen antibody and cellular immune responses in experimental immunization, including studies of pathogen antigens, vaccine candidates, and immune mechanisms. Its effects help researchers evaluate antigen-specific responses, although repeated or improperly administered injections can cause local tissue reactions.

An Adjuvant Therapy in a Mouse Model with an Incompletely Resected Subcutaneous Tumor

2025

This video illustrates testing of adjuvant or additional therapy in a mouse model with incompletely resected subcutaneous tumors. The partially tumor-resected mouse is treated with an antibody targeting the anti-cytotoxic protein of T regulatory cells, potentially reducing tumor regrowth and suggesting effective adjuvant therapy.

A Technique to Generate an Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis Mouse Model

2025

This video demonstrates a method to generate adjuvant-induced arthritis in a murine model. Complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) is injected in the mouse ankle joint and periarticular areas. CFA activates the immune system, leading to neutrophil infiltration and exaggerated inflammation.

Incomplete Dominance

Gregor Mendel's work (1822 - 1884) was primarily focused on pea plants. Through his initial experiments, he determined that every gene in a diploid cell has two variants called alleles inherited from each parent. He suggested that amongst these two alleles, one allele is dominant in character and the other recessive. The combination of alleles determines the phenotype of a gene in an organism. According to Mendel, organisms with both copies or a single copy of the dominant allele display a...
