Intra-intestinal Infusion

Intra-intestinal infusion is a method for delivering fluids, microbes, antigens, or therapeutics directly into the intestinal lumen under controlled experimental conditions. A catheter or infusion device introduces a defined volume at a selected intestinal site, allowing precise control over dose, timing, and exposure while limiting variation from oral intake and gastric processing. In immunology and infection research, this approach helps assess mucosal immune responses, host–microbe interactions, intestinal barrier function, and pathogen-associated effects. It can also support evaluation of local treatments and sampling strategies, providing reproducible insights into how intestinal tissues respond to defined substances or infectious challenges.
