Multidimensional Association

Multidimensional association describes relationships among several variables considered simultaneously, rather than isolated pairwise connections, and helps represent the complexity of medical data. It works by assessing how combinations of factors, such as symptoms, biomarkers, treatments, and patient characteristics, covary or predict an outcome while accounting for interactions and potential confounding. In medicine, this approach supports risk stratification, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment-response analysis by identifying clinically meaningful profiles that single-variable comparisons may overlook. Multidimensional association analysis can also generate hypotheses for observational studies, clinical research, and precision medicine, although results require careful validation to distinguish robust relationships from statistical artifacts.

2025

Accurate analysis of multidimensional microscopy data requires complex workflows. This article demonstrates how to use the software Cell-ACDC. It leverages state-of-the-art AI-driven models for segmentation, tracking, cell pedigree analysis, and quantification of microscopy data. Crucially, it complements these models with an innovative framework for semi-automated correction of the models' output.

Source: Julian Wills & Jay Van Bavel—New York University One of the core constructs in social psychology is the notion of an attitude toward an object or person. Traditionally, psychologists measured attitudes by simply asking people to self-report their beliefs, opinions, or feelings. This approach has limitations, however, when measuring socially sensitive attitudes, like racial prejudice, because people are often motivated to self-report unprejudiced, egalitarian beliefs (despite...

An in vitro model system was developed to capture tissue architectural changes during lung squamous carcinoma (LUSC) progression in a 3-dimensional (3D) co-culture with cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). This organoid system provides a unique platform to investigate the roles of diverse tumor cell-intrinsic and extrinsic changes that modulate the tumor phenotype.
