Neuronal Sensitivity Analysis

Neuronal sensitivity analysis is a quantitative approach for determining how strongly neuronal activity responds to changes in inputs, cellular parameters, or network conditions. Researchers systematically vary factors such as stimulus intensity, membrane conductances, synaptic strength, or model parameters, then measure effects on membrane potential, firing rate, or synaptic responses using sensitivity coefficients or broader parameter analyses. This approach identifies variables that most influence neural behavior and distinguishes robust responses from those that depend on precise conditions. In neuroscience, it supports interpretation of experimental data, refinement of computational models, investigation of disease-related dysfunction, and identification of potential targets for intervention.

Paw-Dragging: a Novel, Sensitive Analysis of the Mouse Cylinder Test

2015

Classical forelimb asymmetry analysis of the cylinder test is routinely used to assess behavioural deficits in rats following brain injury or stroke; however, it fails to detect consistent deficits in mice. This study demonstrates that quantifying paw-dragging behaviour is a more sensitive analysis of brain injury in mice.

Optical Recording of Neuronal Activity in Brain Slices Stained with a Voltage-Sensitive Dye

2025

This video demonstrates a procedure for observing changes in neuronal activity in a brain slice stained with a voltage-sensitive dye. The dye reflects changes in the neuron's membrane potential by altering its fluorescence intensity. Through the application of electrical stimuli and advanced imaging techniques, this process enables visual tracking of real-time changes in neuronal membrane potential based on VSD fluorescence.

2026

Sensitivity analysis is a vital tool in managerial decision-making, particularly when evaluating how changes in key business variables such as costs, prices, or sales volumes affect overall profitability. This technique provides managers with a systematic approach to assess the financial implications of alternative strategies and external uncertainties.Sensitivity analysis involves altering one or more variables in a financial model to measure the impact on key outcomes, such as net income or...

Cell Subtype-specific Analysis of Neuronal Membrane Proteasome in Somatosensory Neurons

2025

The neuronal membrane proteasome (NMP) was recently identified in a subset of somatosensory neurons as a key regulator of touch, pain, and itch perception. This article presents a robust workflow for analyzing cell-type-specific NMP expression and function using cell sorting, transcriptome profiling, and culture-based immunofluorescent analyses.
