Prominin-1 Marker

Prominin-1 marker refers to the use of the transmembrane glycoprotein Prominin-1, also known as CD133, to identify specific cell populations in nervous-system research. Prominin-1 concentrates in plasma-membrane protrusions and cholesterol-rich membrane domains, allowing antibody-based detection or cell sorting based on its surface expression. In neuroscience, researchers use this marker to enrich neural stem and progenitor cells, examine their development, and study Prominin-1-positive subpopulations in brain tumors. Because expression can vary with cell state and tissue context, Prominin-1 is typically interpreted alongside additional markers and functional assays rather than treated as a definitive measure of stemness.

Multiplexed Immunofluorescence Assay for Spatial Assessment of Senescence Markers in vivo

2026

Multiplexed immunofluorescence enables sequential labeling of multiple antibody markers within a single tissue section to support spatial analysis of tissue architecture and cell populations. Here, a workflow for multiplex detection of senescence-associated, structural, and immune markers is presented, including manual and automated slide preparation, iterative imaging, and single-cell analysis using digital pathology software.

The ability to produce transgenes for Caenorhabditis elegans using genomic DNA carried by fosmids is particularly attractive as all of the native regulatory elements are retained. Described is a simple and robust procedure for the production of transgenes via recombineering with the galK selectable marker.

In this two-part study, a biological actuator was developed using highly flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) cantilevers and living muscle cells (cardiomyocytes), and characterized. The biological actuator was incorporated with a base made of modified PDMS materials to build a self-stabilizing, swimming biorobot.
