Percentile

A percentile is a statistical measure that indicates the value below which a given percentage of observations in a dataset falls, providing a clear way to interpret relative position. To calculate one, data are arranged in ascending order, and a rank is identified based on the desired percentage, with interpolation sometimes used when the rank lies between observations. Percentiles support data analysis by summarizing distributions, comparing individual results with a reference population, and identifying thresholds such as the median, quartiles, or extreme values. They are widely used in educational assessment, health research, quality control, and exploratory statistics.

A percentile indicates the relative standing of a data value when data are sorted into numerical order from smallest to largest. It represents the percentages of data values that are less than or equal to the pth percentile. For example, 15% of data values are less than or equal to the 15th percentile. Low percentiles always correspond to lower data values. High percentiles always correspond to higher data values.Percentiles divide ordered data into hundredths. To score in the...

Qualitative and Quantitative Validation of Tools with Rating Scales Aimed at Assessing the Quality of University Service-Learning

2025

This paper outlines the protocol for qualitatively and quantitatively validating a university service-learning instrument, following the parsimony criterion to create the most robust and optimal version possible. The Delphi qualitative validation method and Robust Unweighted Least Squares Exploratory Factor Analysis, as a quantitative item optimization method, are utilized for this purpose.

Darkfield Microscopy to Visualize Diffusional Dynamics of Nanorods on Cell Membrane

In this video, we describe the darkfield microscopy (DFM) technique combined with single-particle tracking (SPT) analysis to monitor the interaction of plasmonic gold nanorods with the cell membrane of a specific cell line of interest. Combined DFM and SPT analysis allows the visualization of the nanorod movement through the cell membrane with high spatiotemporal resolution.

Auricular Point Acupressure Therapy: A Safe and Effective Treatment for Postsurgical Abortion Recovery

Somitogenesis is a rhythmic developmental process that spatially patterns the body axis of vertebrate embryos. Previously, we developed transgenic zebrafish lines that use fluorescent reporters to observe the cyclic genes that drive this process. Here, we culture dispersed cells from these lines and image their oscillations over time in vitro.
