Ben Chiewphasa is the Social Sciences & Policy Librarian at Columbia University Libraries in New York City, where he enjoys connecting with students and faculty across multiple social science departments and programs through teaching, research support, and collection development. He serves on the editorial board of Library Trends and recently guest edited a special issue for the same journal on the evolving landscape of data literacy. As a certified Carpentries Instructor and Instructor Trainer, Ben is deeply invested in inclusive pedagogical approaches to teaching foundational computational and data science skills. His career has taken him from the University of Montana, where he served as the Government Information Librarian, to the University of Notre Dame, where he was the Economics & Data Librarian and taught as instructor of record for the Technology & Digital Studies Program, and now to Columbia. He holds a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology and Geosciences from Denison University, an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Montana, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Outside of work, you will likely find him training for his next Hyrox competition, catching a concert, or unwinding in one of New York City’s many parks. bbc2129@columbia.edu
