	<li>De gezichtsstroomsnelheid moet hoog genoeg zijn voor een effectieve afzuiging. Een lage stroomsnelheid zorgt ervoor dat schadelijke dampen, gassen of deeltjes kunnen ontsnappen via de opening van de kap richting de gebruiker. Een oorzaak van een lage stroomsnelheid is dat het instelbare raam bij de kapopening, ook wel sluiting genoemd, te hoog staat. Het is gebruikelijk dat afzuigkappen voorzien zijn van laag stroomsnelheidsalarmen en sluitingshoogte alarmen. Typische stroomsnelheden liggen tussen de 0,41 en 0,51 m/s (ANSI/AIHA/ASSE Z9.5). Kappen moeten de maximale veilige werkhoogte van de sluiting duidelijk markeren.</li>
	<li>Er zijn verschillende regels voor het veilig gebruik van afzuigkappen.
	<ol>
		<li>Breng nooit je hoofd in de ruimte van de kap, omdat het inbrengen van je hoofd in de kap je kan blootstellen aan schadelijke materialen. De kap is ontworpen om gebruikers alleen te beschermen tegen chemische blootstelling wanneer deze op de juiste manier wordt gebruikt. Alleen de armen van de gebruikers mogen zich in de kap bevinden. Draag altijd geschikte persoonlijke beschermingsmiddelen (PBM's), ongeacht de bescherming die de afzuiging biedt. Raadpleeg het Milieu, Gezondheid & Veiligheid (MGV) kantoor van uw organisatie voor de juiste PBM-aanbevelingen, indien deze onbekend zijn.</li>
		<li>Werk altijd met de sluiting op of onder de maximale veilige hoogte.</li>
		<li>Wanneer deze niet in gebruik is, moet de sluiting gesloten zijn. Het sluiten van de sluiting zorgt voor een veiligere werkomgeving voor alle laboratoriumbezoekers. Daarnaast zijn de energiekosten geassocieerd met onjuist gebruik van de afzuiging enorm. Het sluiten van de sluiting op het minimum, niet-werkende niveau is energiezuiniger.</li>
		<li>Gebruik de kap niet voor het opslaan van chemicaliën. Bewaar chemicaliën op geschikte plaatsen, zoals een brandkast, en breng ze alleen in de afzuiging wanneer ze nodig zijn.</li>
		<li>Plaats alle materialen in de afzuiging op minstens 15 centimeter afstand van de rand van de gezichtsopening. Wanneer er binnen 15 centimeter van de rand wordt gewerkt, is er een grotere kans dat dampen, gassen en deeltjes ontsnappen.</li>
		<li>Net zoals goede huishoudingsprincipes van toepassing zijn op werkende laboratoriumbanken, moeten dezelfde principes worden toegepast binnen afzuigkappen.</li>

	<li>Voer regelmatig onderhoud uit op een afzuiging om ervoor te zorgen dat deze veilig werkt. Onderhoud moet het testen van alarmen en het testen van stroomsnelheid bij de ontworpen werkende sluitingspositie omvatten. Veel factoren kunnen de stroomsnelheid beïnvloeden, inclusief stromingspatronen binnen de ruimte waar de kap zich bevindt en obstakels bij de afvoerluchtopening. Als de sluiting te laag wordt voor effectief werken in de afzuiging, stop dan met werken totdat de wortel van het probleem is aangepakt.</li>

2. Laminaire stromingskast

		<li>Laminaire stromingskast worden gebruikt wanneer een schone omgeving, vrij van deeltjes of biologische verontreinigingen, vereist is. Veelvoorkomende voorbeelden zijn het werken met weefselculturen of halfgeleiderwafels. Laminaire stromingskast voorkomen dat luchtverontreiniging de kastwerkruimte binnenkomt. De laminare stroming (in tegenstelling tot turbulente stroming) van lucht minimaliseert kruisbesmetting van monsters binnen de kast.</li>
	</ol>
	</li>
	<li>Lucht wordt gefilterd door een HEPA-filter en over de werkruimte geblazen, richting de gebruiker. Een constante uitwaartse stroming van schone lucht onderhoudt een onbesmette werkruimte. Sommige laminaire stromingskast zijn uitgerust met een UV-C lamp om de werkruimte voor gebruik te desinfecteren.</li>
	<li>Er zijn twee soorten laminaire stromingskast: horizontale stroming en verticale stroming ( Figuur 1). Horizontale stromingskast blazen schone lucht vanuit de achterste gezichtsopening van de kast horizontaal richting de gebruiker, terwijl verticale stromingskast schone lucht vanuit het plafond van de kast naar de vloer van de werkruimte blazen waar het dan de basis raakt en in een horizontale richting naar de gebruiker stroomt. Verticale stromingskast worden gebruikt met de sluiting naar beneden getrokken. Horizontale stromingskast hebben geen sluiting. Beide typen laminaire stromingskast hebben hun voor- en nadelen.</li>

Afzuigkappen en laminaire werkbanken zijn technische controles die volgens vergelijkbare principes werken. Beide gebruiken een constante luchtstroom om besmetting van de laboratoriumomgeving en haar bewoners te voorkomen. Afzuigkappen voorkomen dat gevaarlijke stoffen de werkruimte van de kap verlaten, terwijl laminaire werkbanken voorkomen dat verontreinigingen de werkruimte van de kast binnenkomen.
Afzuigkappen zijn ventilatiesystemen die zijn ontworpen om de blootstelling aan gevaarlijke dampen, gassen en deeltjes te minimaliseren. Er wordt een constante luchtstroom in de kapopening gezogen, waardoor het ontsnappen van dampen, gassen en deeltjes wordt beperkt, en vervolgens wordt deze door de afvoer naar buiten getrokken. Laminaire werkbanken worden gebruikt om een steriele/ schone omgeving te behouden door constant hoogwaardig gefilterde lucht (HEPA) naar buiten te laten stromen, waardoor minimale verontreinigde lucht in de werkruimte van de kast komt. De HEPA-gefilterde lucht vermindert de kans dat schadelijke chemicaliën of deeltjes het laboratorium binnenkomen. Een HEPA-filter verwijdert 99,97% of meer van de 0,3 µm deeltjes.

Afzuigkappen zuigen lucht over een werkruimte om gevaarlijke dampen en fijne deeltjes te verwijderen, terwijl laminaire werkbanken lucht door een filter blazen om besmetting van monsters door stof of biologische materialen te voorkomen.Deze video zal illustreren hoe afzuigkappen en laminaire werkbanken werken, hoe ze te gebruiken zijn en hoe onderhoud uit te voeren.Afzuigkappen en laminaire werkbanken werken met laminaire luchtstroom, een stroming die in evenwijdige stromingslijnen verloopt, die elkaar niet kruisen. In beide wordt lucht door een inlaat en een zuiveringfilter getrokken waar het wordt gezuiverd van kleine deeltjes zoals stof en bacteriën.Een horizontale werkbank leidt lucht horizontaal door de werkruimte. Dit type werkbank vermindert besmetting door handen en handschoenen, omdat ze stroomafwaarts van de monsters zijn. Echter, de luchtstroom waait direct op de gebruiker en grote objecten kunnen de stroming belemmeren.In een verticale werkbank wordt de lucht van bovenaf op de werkruimte geleid en dan uit via een klep. Omdat dit type stroming direct in contact komt met het oppervlak van de werkruimtematerialen, helpt het om kruisbesmetting te voorkomen. Echter, de klep kan de beweging van de handen beperken en de luchtstroom is turbulenter dan in een horizontale werkbank.Nu zullen we u laten zien hoe u deze werkruimtes in een laboratoriumomgeving kunt gebruiken en hoe u eenvoudig onderhoud kunt uitvoeren.Om een afzuigkap veilig te gebruiken, draag altijd geschikte persoonlijke beschermingsmiddelen. Zorg er ook voor dat de snelheid voldoende is door de gehele kap, houd de werkruimte overzichtelijk en verplaats alle items minstens zes centimeter van de kapgevel.Als u klaar bent met werken in de kap, haalt u alle materialen eruit. Sla geen chemicaliën op in de kap, maar in een speciale opslagruimte zoals een vlamvertragende kast. Tot slot, sluit de klep om een veiligere laboratoriumomgeving te garanderen en het energieverbruik te verminderen.Voer regelmatig onderhoud uit door alarmen en stromingssnelheid te testen op de maximale klephoogte.Als de snelheid laag is, verlaag de klep tot deze op de vereiste snelheid is. Als de klep te laag wordt om werk in de kap te kunnen doen, stop met werken tot de oorzaak van het probleem is opgelost.Laminaire werkbanken worden veel gebruikt op plaatsen waar besmetting een zorg is, zoals in een biologielaboratorium, dus u moet voorzichtig zijn met besmetting door uzelf en laboratoriumlucht. Om besmetting te voorkomen, gebruik ethanol om handschoenen en alle apparatuur te steriliseren voordat u de werkbank gebruikt of de klep opent.Zorg ervoor dat de klep niet boven de maximaal toegestane hoogte is om een voldoende luchtstroom te garanderen. Houd de werkbank vrij van rommel en zorg ervoor dat objecten minstens 6 centimeter van de rand worden geplaatst, omdat dat het gebied is dat het meest waarschijnlijk wordt besmet door laboratoriumlucht. Plaats ook geen items die het risico lopen op kruisbesmetting stroomafwaarts van elkaar.Wanneer u klaar bent, verwijdert u alle items uit de werkruimte om rommel te voorkomen en sluit u de klep om besmetting te voorkomen.
