Anti-migratory Agents

Anti-migratory agents are molecules, materials, or interventions that reduce or prevent directed cell movement, a property important for controlling tissue organization, wound responses, and disease progression. They work by interfering with processes that enable migration, including actin cytoskeleton remodeling, integrin-mediated adhesion, focal-adhesion turnover, and chemotactic signaling. In bioengineering, these agents can be incorporated into biomaterials, delivered locally, or used to regulate engineered cell and tissue models. Their controlled application helps limit unwanted cell invasion, guide spatial organization, and investigate how mechanical and biochemical cues govern migration in tissue repair, regenerative medicine, and cancer research.

2025

In vivo imaging of the joints is a valuable technique for uncovering the migratory behavior of leukocytes and molecular dynamics within the inflamed joints. Here, we present a detailed protocol for in vivo imaging of the joints using a murine model of type II collagen-induced arthritis (CIA).

Wound Assay to Evaluate the Migratory Capacity of Murine Myoblasts in Co-Culture

This protocol describes the preparation and characterization of a dendrimeric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent that carries cyclen-based macrocyclic chelates coordinating paramagnetic gadolinium ions. In a series of MRI experiments in vitro, this agent produced an amplified MRI signal when compared to the commercially available monomeric analogue.

Source: Vy M. Dong and Daniel Kim, Department of Chemistry, University of California, Irvine, CA Controlling the reactivity and selectivity during the synthesis of a molecule is very important criteria for chemists. This has led to the development of many reagents that allow chemists to pick and choose reagents suitable for a given task. Quite often, a balance between reactivity and selectivity needs to be achieved. This experiment will use IR spectroscopy to monitor the reaction and to...
