Genomic Profile Comparison

Genomic profile comparison is the systematic analysis of genetic features across cells, tissues, individuals, or tumor samples to identify similarities and differences. In cancer research, investigators compare sequencing-derived profiles by aligning genomic data, detecting variants, and evaluating changes such as mutations, copy-number alterations, or gene activity patterns. This approach helps distinguish tumor subtypes, characterize clonal evolution, and reveal molecular differences associated with disease progression or treatment response. By linking genomic variation with clinical and biological outcomes, genomic profile comparison supports biomarker discovery, patient stratification, and the development of more precise cancer diagnostics and therapies.

Evolutionary Relationships through Genome Comparisons

2021

Genome comparison is one of the excellent ways to interpret the evolutionary relationships between organisms. The basic principle of genome comparison is that if two species share a common feature, it is likely encoded by the DNA sequence conserved between both species. The advent of genome sequencing technologies in the late 20th century enabled scientists to understand the concept of conservation of domains between species and helped them to deduce evolutionary relationships across diverse...

Drug Dissolution: Requirements and Profile Comparison

The acceptance criteria for dissolution profile data are anchored in Q values, representing the percentage of drug dissolved within a specified period. This assessment unfolds in three stages:First Stage: The test passes if all six drug dosage units are equal to or greater than Q plus 5%; otherwise, the sample proceeds to the second stage.Second Stage: The average of twelve units must be equal to or greater than Q, with no unit falling below Q - 15% to pass; if not, it progresses to the final...

2013

Single Virus Genomics (SVG) is a method to isolate and amplify the genomes of single virons. Viral suspensions of a mixed assemblage are sorted using flow cytometry onto a microscope slide with discrete wells containing agarose, thereby capturing the virion and reducing genome shearing during downstream processing. Whole genome amplification is achieved using multiple displacement amplification (MDA) resulting in genomic material that is suitable for sequencing.

Promoter Capture Hi-C: High-resolution, Genome-wide Profiling of Promoter Interactions

DNA regulatory elements, such as enhancers, control gene expression by physically contacting target gene promoters, often through long-range chromosomal interactions spanning large genomic distances. Promoter Capture Hi-C (PCHi-C) identifies significant interactions between promoters and distal regions, enabling the assignment of potential regulatory sequences to their target genes.
