Ttfields Application

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) application is a noninvasive cancer treatment that delivers low-intensity, intermediate-frequency alternating electric fields to a tumor through externally worn transducer arrays. The fields act preferentially on dividing cells by disrupting mitotic spindle formation and cytokinesis, which can arrest cell division and promote tumor-cell death while limiting effects on most nondividing cells. In cancer research and clinical care, TTFields are evaluated alone or alongside surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy, with treatment schedules, field direction, and tumor location influencing delivery. This approach supports investigation of localized, device-based therapies for difficult-to-treat cancers.

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) are an effective anti-tumor treatment modality delivered via the continuous, noninvasive application of low-intensity, intermediate-frequency, alternating electric fields. TTFields application to cell lines using a TTFields in vitro application system allows for the determination of the optimal frequency that leads to the highest reduction in cell counts.
