Telephone Orders

Telephone orders are a clinical communication process in which an authorized healthcare professional conveys a patient-care instruction by phone to another member of the care team for implementation. The receiving clinician records the order, performs read-back or verification to confirm the medication, dose, route, timing, and patient, and follows institutional requirements for documentation and prescriber authentication. This process supports timely treatment when the ordering clinician cannot enter an order directly into the medical record, including urgent medication administration or changes in care. Clear communication, standardized verification, and accurate documentation help reduce transcription errors and strengthen continuity of care.

We describe procedures for recording daily locomotor activity rhythms of Drosophila and subsequent data analysis. Locomotor activity rhythms are a reliable behavioral output of animal circadian clocks and are used as the standard readout of clock function when studying circadian mutants or examining how the environment regulates the circadian system.

A protocol to create gene modified human pseudoislets from dispersed human islet cells that are transduced by lentivirus carrying short hairpin RNA (shRNA) is presented. This protocol utilizes readily available enzyme and culture vessels, can be performed easily, and produces genetically modified human pseudoislets suitable for functional and morphological studies.
