Amplification Kit

An amplification kit is a standardized set of reagents and components used to increase the amount of a specific nucleic acid sequence, making low-abundance genetic material measurable for research. In a typical PCR-based kit, repeated cycles of template denaturation, primer annealing, and DNA polymerase-mediated extension generate exponential copies of the target sequence under controlled temperature conditions. In developmental biology, amplification kits support gene-expression analysis, genotyping, mutation detection, and the study of developmental regulators from limited samples such as embryos or early tissues. By improving detection sensitivity and experimental consistency, these kits help researchers connect genetic activity with cell fate, tissue formation, and developmental timing.

Here we demonstrate the newly developed I•Cryo kit for mouse sperm cryopreservation. Two-cell stage embryo development with frozen-thawed sperm was improved consistently in 5 mouse strains with the use of this kit. Over a 1.5 year period, 49 genetically modified mouse lines were archived by sperm cryopreservation with the I•Cryo kit and later successfully recovered by IVF.

2010

We developed a sensitive technique to label newly synthesized mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in individual cells in order to study mtDNA biogenesis. The technique combines the incorporation of EdU together with a tyramide signal amplification (TSA) protocol to visualize mtDNA replication within subcellular compartments of neurons.

The Protease Fluorescent Detection Kit is designed for the measurement of protease activity using fluorometry. It is also suitable for detection of trace amounts of protease contamination. The method is based on the proteolytic hydroysis of a proprietary formulation of a FITC-labeled casein substrate.
