Fluoroscopy System

A fluoroscopy system is a medical imaging technology that uses continuous or pulsed X-rays to produce real-time moving images of internal body structures, supporting diagnosis and image-guided treatment. The system directs X-rays through the patient, captures transmitted radiation with an image intensifier or flat-panel detector, and displays the resulting sequence on a monitor. In medicine, fluoroscopy guides procedures such as catheter placement, angiography, gastrointestinal examinations, orthopedic interventions, and pain-management injections. By providing immediate visual feedback, it helps clinicians navigate instruments and assess anatomy, though careful control of exposure time and radiation dose is essential for patient and operator safety.

Dual fluoroscopy accurately captures in vivo dynamic motion of human joints, which can be visualized relative to reconstructed anatomy (e.g., arthrokinematics). Herein, a detailed protocol to quantify hip arthrokinematics during weight-bearing activities of daily living is presented, including the integration of dual fluoroscopy with traditional skin marker motion capture.

2025

This study presents a novel surgical technique for implanting a biomimetic artificial intervertebral disc (BioAID). The method ensures precise placement and stability, aiming to restore cervical spine function using a goat model. This technique shows promise for clinical application in both human and canine patients suffering from cervical spine myelopathy.

Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with an ablation catheter is a curative treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Robotic catheter systems aim to improve catheter steerability. Here, a procedure with a new robotic catheter system is presented. The goal of the procedure is electrical block between pulmonary vein and left atrium.
