Hepatic Flexure Mobilization

Hepatic flexure mobilization is a surgical technique that frees the bend of the colon beneath the liver, improving access and allowing the bowel to reach adjacent structures without tension. Surgeons separate the colon from its lateral and posterior attachments, carefully identifying nearby organs and vessels while releasing the peritoneal planes around the right colon and transverse colon. This maneuver supports procedures such as right hemicolectomy, transverse colectomy, and reconstruction requiring a tension-free colorectal anastomosis. Proper mobilization can improve exposure, facilitate safe tissue dissection, and help preserve blood supply and surrounding anatomy during abdominal surgery.

Flexural Stress

2024

When analyzing bending in symmetric members, it's crucial to understand how stresses distribute when subjected to bending moments. This stress distribution is effectively described by applying fundamental mechanics and material science principles, particularly Hooke's Law for elastic materials. Hooke's Law states that within the material's elastic limits, stress is directly proportional to strain. In a member experiencing a bending moment, the strain at any point is relative to its distance...

Laparoscopic Anatomic S7+S8d Resection Preserving Inferior Right Hepatic Vein and S6 with Right Hepatic Vein Transection

2025

We present a laparoscopic technique for anatomic S7+S8d resection with right hepatic vein transection, preserving the inferior right hepatic vein and segment S6. Relying on meticulous anatomical landmarks without intraoperative ultrasound, this approach offers a precise and parenchyma-sparing option for dorsally located right-liver tumors, particularly in settings with limited advanced navigation resources.
