Neuronal Distribution Analysis

Neuronal distribution analysis is the quantitative study of where neurons are located, how densely they are arranged, and how their spatial organization varies across nervous system regions. Researchers typically label neurons in tissue samples, image them with microscopy, and use cell counting, density measurements, and spatial mapping to identify patterns such as clustering, layering, or regional differences. In neuroscience, these analyses help characterize brain architecture, trace developmental changes, and compare healthy and diseased tissue. They also support studies of neural circuits, neurodegeneration, injury-related remodeling, and the relationship between neuronal organization and function.

Cell Subtype-specific Analysis of Neuronal Membrane Proteasome in Somatosensory Neurons

2025

The neuronal membrane proteasome (NMP) was recently identified in a subset of somatosensory neurons as a key regulator of touch, pain, and itch perception. This article presents a robust workflow for analyzing cell-type-specific NMP expression and function using cell sorting, transcriptome profiling, and culture-based immunofluorescent analyses.

Presented here is a procedure for reproducible and statistically valid determinations of starch granule size distributions, and for specifying the determined granule lognormal size distributions using a two-parameter multiplicative form. It is applicable to all granule sizing analyses of gram-scale starch samples for plant and food science research.
