Q40::yfp Aggregates

Q40::YFP aggregates are intracellular deposits formed when a fluorescent protein containing 40 glutamine residues, fused to yellow fluorescent protein (YFP), misfolds and accumulates. The expanded polyglutamine tract promotes abnormal protein interactions, producing oligomers and larger inclusions that can be visualized by fluorescence microscopy. In biological techniques, this reporter system provides a measurable model of protein aggregation and impaired proteostasis, processes associated with neurodegenerative disease. Researchers use aggregate number, size, and distribution to assess cellular quality-control mechanisms, genetic modifiers, and potential compounds that alter protein misfolding or clearance.

Aggregates for Concrete and Asphaltic Mixes

0 Views •

2023

Source: Roberto Leon, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA Concrete and asphalt are by far the most common construction materials used today. Concrete is a composite material consisting of cement, water, air, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregates. Fine aggregates are typically sands and coarse aggregates are natural or crushed rocks. Chemical admixtures to modify certain specific properties are also commonly used (i.e., superplasticizers to make the...

Methods to Study Changes in Inherent Protein Aggregation with Age in Caenorhabditis elegans

The goal of the method presented here is to explore protein aggregation during normal aging in the model organism C. elegans. The protocol represents a powerful tool to study the highly insoluble large aggregates that form with age and to determine how changes in proteostasis impact protein aggregation.

Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply: A Brief Introduction

0 Views •

2026

The aggregate demand and aggregate supply model is used to understand how the economy behaves over time. It shows how changes in overall spending and production affect total output and prices. This model helps explain periods of growth and slowdown in a simple way.Aggregate demand is the total amount of goods and services people, firms, governments, and foreign buyers are willing to buy at different price levels. When prices fall, people can buy more with the same income, leading to higher...

In Vitro Aggregation Assays Using Hyperphosphorylated Tau Protein

Unmodified and hyperphosphorylated tau proteins were used in two in vitro aggregation assays to reveal the hyperphosphorylation-dependent fast aggregation kinetics. These assays pave the way for future screens for compounds that can modulate the propensity of hyperphosphorylated tau to form fibrils that underlie the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Aggregates Classification

2024

Aggregate classification is generally based on its size, petrographic characteristics, weight, and source. Size classification ranges from coarse to fine aggregates, defined by the size of the particles. Coarse aggregates are particles that do not pass through ASTM sieve No. 4, and aggregates that pass through the sieve are fine aggregates. Petrographic classification groups aggregates based on common mineralogical characteristics. Some of the common mineral groups found in aggregates are...
