Radiosensitizer Evaluation

Radiosensitizer evaluation is the systematic assessment of compounds or treatments that increase cancer-cell sensitivity to ionizing radiation, potentially improving tumor control while limiting normal-tissue exposure. Researchers compare radiation alone with radiation combined with a candidate radiosensitizer, measuring outcomes such as clonogenic survival, cell viability, DNA damage, apoptosis, and dose enhancement under controlled conditions. These studies help clarify how agents influence radiation-induced damage and repair, identify effective treatment combinations, and guide preclinical development of more precise cancer therapies. Evaluation in relevant cell and tumor models also supports the selection of candidates for further translational and clinical investigation.

Zebrafish Larvae as a Model to Evaluate Potential Radiosensitizers or Protectors

2022

The zebrafish has recently been exploited as a model to validate potential radiation modifiers. The present protocol describes the detailed steps to use zebrafish embryos for radiation-based screening experiments and some observational approaches to evaluate the effect of different treatments and radiation.

Genome-Wide CRISPR Screen for Unveiling Radiosensitive and Radioresistant Genes

2025

A meticulous and structured approach is given to select resistant and sensitive genes of radiation through the application of a genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screen method. This protocol also has the potential to serve as a versatile framework for other research endeavors investigating the mechanisms of resistance to clinically administered chemical drugs.

Evaluating the Accuracy of Snap Judgments

Source: Diego Reinero & Jay Van Bavel—New York University Social psychologists have long been interested in the way people form impressions of others. Much of this work has focused on the errors people make in judging others, such as the exaggerated influence of central traits (such as "warm" and "cold"), the insufficient weight given to the context in which others' behavior takes place, and the tendency for people to make judgments that conform to their initial expectations about another.
