Purity Effects

Purity effects describe how the presence of impurities changes a chemical substance’s physical properties, chemical behavior, or measured composition. Impurities can dilute reactive species, introduce competing reactions, shift chemical equilibria, or disrupt crystal lattices, causing changes in melting point, boiling point, solubility, reaction rate, and product yield. In chemistry, analyzing these effects helps researchers interpret experimental data, assess the quality of reagents and products, and select suitable purification methods. Understanding purity effects is essential for reliable quantitative analysis, reproducible synthesis, pharmaceutical quality control, and the accurate characterization of materials.

Here we describe a robust method of determining immune cell identity and purity through epigenetic signatures detected using quantitative PCR (qPCR). DNA demethylation at a specific locus serves as a unique identifier for a particular cell type and allows for identification of CD8+, regulatory, or Th17 T cells.

Buffer Effectiveness

2020

Buffer solutions do not have an unlimited capacity to keep the pH relatively constant . Instead, the ability of a buffer solution to resist changes in pH relies on the presence of appreciable amounts of its conjugate weak acid-base pair. When enough strong acid or base is added to substantially lower the concentration of either member of the buffer pair, the buffering action within the solution is compromised. The buffer capacity is the amount of acid or base that can be added to a given volume...
