Vascular Damage Analysis

Vascular damage analysis is the systematic assessment of injury to blood vessels, including changes in endothelial integrity, permeability, inflammation, and clot formation. In immunology and infection research, invading pathogens or activated immune cells can release inflammatory mediators that disrupt endothelial junctions, increase vascular permeability, and promote leakage, edema, or thrombosis. Researchers evaluate these effects using tissue imaging, histological analysis, vascular permeability assays, and molecular measurements of endothelial or inflammatory markers. The resulting data help clarify how infections spread through tissues, how immune responses contribute to organ injury, and which therapeutic strategies may preserve vascular function and limit disease complications.

2025

Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of cardiac damage in reperfused acute myocardial infarction (repAMI) enables faithful quantification and co-localization of associated disease-affecting patterns. Here, an automatable light sheet-guided imaging approach is provided for contemporaneous measurement of cardiac damage, area at risk, and immune cell response.

Human infection by Entamoeba histolytica leads to amoebiasis, a major cause of diarrhea in tropical countries. Infection is initiated by pathogen interactions with intestinal epithelial cells, provoking the opening of cell-cell contacts and consequently diarrhea, sometimes followed by liver infection. This article provides a model to assess the early host-pathogen interactions to improve our understanding of amoebiasis pathogenesis.

To date, thick tissue defects are typically reconstructed by applying autologous tissue flaps or engineered tissues. In this protocol, we present a new method for engineering vascularized tissue flap bearing an autologous pedicle, to serve as a substitute to autologous flaps.
