Cauterization Procedure

Cauterization is a medical procedure that deliberately destroys or seals tissue to control bleeding, remove abnormal growths, or treat localized lesions. It works by applying heat, electrical energy, chemical agents, or other cauterizing methods to denature proteins and cause tissue coagulation, which can close small blood vessels and limit further damage. Clinicians use cauterization in surgery, wound care, dermatology, and nasal or cervical treatments, depending on the target tissue and clinical goal. Proper technique and patient assessment are essential because excessive tissue injury can cause pain, scarring, infection, or delayed healing.

(2022).This video demonstrates the quantification of retinal ganglion cells from chemically fixed rat retinas subjected to full-circle cauterization of the limbal vascular plexus. The process includes permeabilization, antibody staining, and nuclear counterstaining, followed by visualization under an epifluorescence microscope to assess the impact of...

Inducing rapid liver hypertrophy using Associating Liver Partition and Portal vein ligation for a Staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) has been proposed for resection of borderline resectable liver tumors. This model may elucidate mechanisms involved in rapid hypertrophy and allows testing of drugs that promote or block the acceleration of regeneration.
