Medial Condylar Osteotomy

Medial condylar osteotomy is an orthopedic procedure that cuts and repositions the medial condyle of a joint-forming bone to correct alignment and improve mechanical function. Surgeons plan the osteotomy to remove or open a precise bone segment, shift the condylar fragment or adjoining bone, and secure the correction with fixation while protecting surrounding cartilage, ligaments, and neurovascular structures. By redistributing load across the joint, the technique can address angular deformity, compartment overload, or localized structural abnormalities. Its clinical value depends on accurate planning, stable healing, and restoration of joint congruence and movement.

One constraint of preclinical research in the field of bone repair is the lack of experimental control over the local mechanical environment within a healing bone lesion. We report the design and use of an external fixator for bone repair with the ability to change fixator stiffness in vivo.

The present work provides a comprehensive set of guidelines for manually tracing the medial temporal lobe (MTL) structures. This protocol can be applied to research involving structural and/or combined structural-functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) investigations of the MTL, in both healthy and clinical groups.

A Standardized Surgical Technique for Tessier Medial Transnasal Canthopexy

Medial canthopexy allows correction of the position and fixation of the medial canthal tendon. Due to the technical difficulties of this procedure, there is a need for a detailed protocol for educational purposes. Here, we describe a standardized reproducible technique for bilateral medial transnasal canthopexy by an orbitonasal approach.

Protocol for Developing a Femur Osteotomy Model in Wistar Albino Rats

Here, we present a protocol to iatrogenically fracture the shaft of the femur of Wistar albino rats and follow up on the development of the callus. This femur osteotomy model can help researchers evaluate the process of fracture healing and to study how a drug could influence fracture healing.
