Proliferation Inhibition

Proliferation inhibition is the reduction or prevention of cell multiplication, a process that helps control tissue growth and is central to many medical therapies. It occurs when regulatory signals slow or stop cell-cycle progression, limit DNA replication, or activate programmed cell death, thereby reducing the number of viable dividing cells. In medicine, measuring proliferation inhibition helps evaluate anticancer compounds, investigate mechanisms of tumor growth, and assess treatments for disorders involving excessive cellular expansion. The concept also supports drug development by linking molecular targets and cellular responses to therapeutic efficacy and potential toxicity.

Abnormal Proliferation

2021

Under normal conditions, most adult cells remain in a non-proliferative state unless stimulated by internal or external factors to replace lost cells. Abnormal cell proliferation is a condition in which the cell's growth exceeds and is uncoordinated with normal cells. In such situations, cell division persists in the same excessive manner even after cessation of the stimuli, leading to persistent tumors. The tumor arises from the damaged cells that replicate to pass the damage to the daughter...

Here detailed protocols for culturing the murine myeloid precursor 32D/G-CSF-R cell line, performing viral infections, and carrying out proliferation and differentiation assays are presented. This cell line is suitable for studying myeloid cell development, and the role of genes of interest in myeloid cell growth and neutrophilic differentiation.

Thermally Responsive Biopolymer-Based Inhibition of Tumor Progression in a Rat Model

Begin with an anesthetized rat bearing a brain tumor composed of proliferating tumor cells.Expose the rat’s skull and create a hole to reveal the brain region with the tumor.Take a thermally responsive biopolymer fused with a cell-penetrating peptide and an inhibitor of c-myc, an oncogenic protein.Inject the biopolymer into the femoral vein of the hind limb for delivery to the brain.Apply infrared light through the skull hole to heat the tumor site, which induces biopolymer aggregation along...
