Transparent Cap

A transparent cap is a clear, usually cylindrical attachment placed over the distal tip of an endoscope to improve visualization and control during minimally invasive examination or treatment. By creating a fixed space between the lens and tissue, the cap helps maintain a stable viewing distance, keep the field open, and gently flatten or lift mucosal folds as the endoscope advances. In gastrointestinal endoscopy, cap-assisted techniques can support lesion detection, provide more consistent orientation, and facilitate procedures such as biopsy, polypectomy, and endoscopic mucosal resection. Its use may improve procedural efficiency and help clinicians approach difficult anatomy with greater precision.

We describe the experimental method to deposit nanostructured oxide thin films by nanosecond Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) in the presence of a background gas. By using this method Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films, from compact to hierarchically structured as nano-tree forests, can be deposited.

Here we present a fluorophore based imaging technique to detect cell viability on a non-transparent titanium scaffold as well as to detect glimpses of the scaffold impurities. This protocol troubleshoots the drawback of imaging cell-cell or cell-metal interactions on non-transparent scaffolds.

This method describes high yield in vitro synthesis of both capped and uncapped mRNA from a linearized plasmid containing the Gaussia luciferase (GLuc) gene. The RNA is purified and a fraction of the uncapped RNA is enzymatically capped using the Vaccinia virus capping enzyme. In the final step, the mRNA is transfected into HeLa cells and cell culture supernatants are assayed for luciferase activity.

Non-fouling PEG silane monolayer was desorbed from individually addressable ITO electrodes on glass by application of a reductive potential. Electrochemical stripping of PEG-silane layer from ITO microelectrodes allowed for cell adhesion to take place in a spatially defined fashion, with cellular patterns corresponding closely to electrode patterns.
