Proprietary Name

A proprietary name is a manufacturer-assigned brand or trade name used to identify a pharmaceutical product, distinguishing it from the drug’s generic or nonproprietary name. Unlike an active ingredient, the proprietary name has no pharmacological mechanism; the product’s effects arise from its chemical composition, formulation, dose, and interaction with biological targets. Understanding proprietary names helps pharmacology students and researchers connect commercial products with their active ingredients, compare equivalent medicines, interpret prescribing and clinical trial records, and reduce confusion when the same drug appears under different names across manufacturers or regions.

Here, we present a novel protocol to measure positional stability at key events during the sit-to-stand-to-walk using the center-of-pressure to the whole-body-center-of-mass distance. This was derived from the force platform and three-dimensional motion-capture technology. The paradigm is reliable and can be utilized for the assessment of neurologically compromised individuals.
