Cereal Growth System

Cereal Growth System is a controlled cultivation platform used to germinate and grow cereal plants while researchers regulate environmental conditions. By supplying seeds with defined water, nutrients, light, temperature, and sometimes support media, the system standardizes root and shoot development and makes growth responses easier to measure. In biology, cereal growth systems support studies of plant development, root architecture, nutrient uptake, stress physiology, and interactions between genotype and environment. They can improve experimental reproducibility and help evaluate traits relevant to crop science, food security, and sustainable agriculture.

Exponential Population Growth Model ExpandNOTE: In these experiments you will use computer software to simulate different types of growth models. HYPOTHESES: The experimental hypothesis might be that if we increase either R, the reproductive rate or the initial population size, NT, that this will increase the population size after 10 generations in an exponential growth model compared to unmanipulated control populations. The null hypothesis may be that populations of different R and initial...

Population Models An ecological population is a group of individuals of a single species living in an area at the same time. To persist, a population must either grow or maintain its size. Population ecology is the study of how population size and age distribution change over time through interactions with other species and the environment as well as with individuals of their own species. A particularly important feature that is studied by ecologists is the rate at which a population grows or...

Obtaining High-Quality Transcriptome Data from Cereal Seeds by a Modified Method for Gene Expression Profiling

2020

A method for transcriptome profiling of cereals is presented. The microarray-based gene expression profiling starts with the isolation of high-quality total RNA from cereal grains and continues with the generation of cDNA. After cRNA labelling and microarray hybridization, recommendations are given for signal detection and quality control.
