Fluorescein Verification

Fluorescein verification is the process of confirming that fluorescein, a fluorescent tracer used in medicine, is correctly identified and produces a reliable signal for clinical or laboratory use. The dye absorbs short-wavelength light and emits green-yellow fluorescence, allowing its presence, distribution, or staining pattern to be assessed under suitable illumination. In ophthalmology, verification supports evaluation of corneal surface integrity, tear-film behavior, and vascular or tissue boundaries during diagnostic imaging. Reliable verification helps distinguish true fluorescence from background signal or procedural error, improving the consistency of examinations, research measurements, and image-based clinical decisions.

Self-Evaluation: Self-Enhancement and Self-Verification

2020

Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

This protocol delineates a way to label and trace the fate of small groups of cells zebrafish embryos using UV-uncaging of caged fluorescein, followed by whole mount immunolabeling to amplify the signal from the uncaged fluorescein.

Fluorescein Staining in an Autoimmune Dry Eye Rat Model to Examine Corneal Damage

This video demonstrates the staining of the damaged cornea using fluorescein dye to evaluate the extent of autoimmune dry eye disease in a rat model. The green fluorescence spots of the stained collagen fibers indicate corneal epithelial damaged cells.

Strategies of Self-Presentation II: Self-Verification

2025

Self-verification is a fundamental psychological drive wherein individuals seek affirmation of their self-concept from others, striving for consistency between their internal self-view and external perceptions. This drive operates even when the self-concept is negative, influencing interpersonal behavior and feedback preferences in complex and often counterintuitive ways. Unlike the self-enhancement motive, which seeks positive evaluations, self-verification prioritizes coherence and...
