Crowd Influence

Crowd influence is the process by which people’s thoughts, emotions, and behavior change through interaction with, or observation of, a group. It operates through mechanisms such as conformity, social identity, and informational influence, in which individuals use others’ actions as cues about appropriate behavior; anonymity and reduced personal accountability can further weaken individual restraints. In psychology, studying crowd influence helps explain collective excitement, protest participation, rumor spread, cooperation, and harmful group behavior. Research in this area informs public safety planning, communication strategies, organizational decision-making, and interventions designed to reduce conflict while supporting constructive collective action.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Human vision depends on light-sensitive neurons that are arranged in the back of the eye on a tissue called the retina. The neurons, called the rods and cones because of their shapes, are not uniformly distributed on the retina. Instead, there is a region in the center of the retina called the macula where cones are densely packed, and especially so in a central sub-region of the macula called the fovea. Outside the fovea there...

We present a protocol to obtain cell-derived matrices rich in extracellular matrix proteins, using macromolecular crowders (MMC). In addition, we present a protocol which incorporates MMC in 3D organotypic skin co-culture generation, which reduces culture time while maintaining maturity of construct.

Persuasion: Motivational Factors Influencing Attitude Change

Source: William Brady & Jay Van Bavel—New York University Decades of social psychological research sought to understand a fundamental question that pervades our social life including politics, marketing and public health; namely, how are people persuaded to change their attitudes towards an idea, person, or object? Traditional work found that there are key factors that influence whether persuasion is successful or not including the source of the persuasive message ("source"), and the...

Human development is shaped by two broad categories of influences: internal and external factors. Internal influences primarily stem from heredity and biological processes, while external influences arise from the environment. Development reflects the continuous interaction between these factors rather than either one alone.Internal InfluencesHeredity refers to genetic information inherited from biological parents. Genes contribute to physical characteristics, such as eye color, body structure,...

Bioavailability: Influencing Factors

Bioavailability refers to the extent and rate at which a drug reaches systemic circulation in its active form. Extent refers to the amount of the drug that makes it into circulation, while rate is the speed at which it enters circulation. It is influenced by several factors critical for optimizing drug formulations, dosing regimens, and therapeutic outcomes.Physicochemical properties of drugs and formulationsThe solubility, stability, and dissolution rate of a drug significantly impact its...
