Functional Status Evaluation

Functional status evaluation is a systematic assessment of how well an individual performs everyday activities, interacts with the environment, and maintains independence, making it an important measure of behavior and well-being. Evaluators combine structured interviews, direct observation, and standardized rating scales to examine abilities such as mobility, self-care, communication, decision-making, and instrumental activities of daily living. In behavioral research and clinical practice, these evaluations help identify changes associated with illness, injury, aging, or treatment, guide individualized support and rehabilitation, and provide outcome measures for tracking recovery and participation in daily life.
