Localization Performance

Localization performance is the ability to identify the position or source of an object, signal, or event, making it a useful measure of spatial perception and behavior. It depends on how sensory systems detect and integrate spatial cues, such as differences in the timing, intensity, or direction of signals reaching sensory receptors, and how the brain converts this information into a behavioral response. Researchers assess localization performance through accuracy, response time, and error patterns in tasks involving visual, auditory, or multisensory stimuli. These measures help characterize attention, sensory processing, navigation, learning, and changes caused by development, environmental conditions, or neurological dysfunction.

Plant intercellular connections, the plasmodesmata (Pd), play central roles in plant physiology and plant-virus interactions. Critical to Pd transport are sorting signals that direct proteins to Pd. However, our knowledge about these sequences is still in its infancy. We describe a strategy to identify Pd localization signals in Pd-targeted proteins.
