11-0 Suture Size

11-0 suture size denotes an ultra-fine surgical thread selected for precise tissue approximation, particularly where minimal material is needed. In the numbered “-0” sizing system, increasing numbers before the zero indicate progressively smaller suture diameters, so 11-0 is finer than larger suture sizes and provides less material for closure. Its small profile supports delicate repair in microsurgical and biological research settings, where accurate alignment and limited disruption of fragile tissues are important. Understanding suture size helps researchers and clinicians match thread dimensions with tissue characteristics, handling requirements, and the desired outcome of wound closure.

Sutures of the Skull

2025

The human skull is composed of several bones that come together to protect the brain and support the structures of the face. The junctions where these bones meet are called sutures. Sutures are immobile joints between adjacent bones of the skull. The narrow gap between the bones is filled with dense, fibrous connective tissue that unites the bones. The long sutures located between the skull bones are not straight but instead follow irregular, tightly twisting paths. These twisting lines tightly...

Cuff-Free Suture-Based Cervical Model for Secondary Heterotopic Heart Transplantation to Evaluate Donor-Specific Immune Tolerance in Mice

Current methods of analyzing patients’ adherence to complex drug resistant-tuberculosis (DR-TB) regimens can be inaccurate and resource-intensive. Our method analyzes hair, an easily collected and stored matrix, for concentrations of 11 DR-TB medications. Using LC-MS/MS, we can determine sub-nanogram drug levels that can be utilized to better understand drug adherence.
