Adoptive Transfer

Adoptive transfer is a biological method in which living cells, tissues, or other cellular components are moved from a donor or laboratory culture into a recipient to produce a desired physiological or immune effect. In immunology, researchers isolate specific immune cells, often expand or modify them ex vivo, and infuse them into a recipient, where they can recognize antigens, release signaling molecules, or directly eliminate target cells. This approach supports studies of immune-cell function, host–pathogen interactions, transplantation, and tumor biology, while clinical applications such as adoptive cell therapy demonstrate its potential for treating cancer and other diseases.

A Method for the High Salt Treatment of Dendritic Cells and their Adoptive Transfer into Mice

2025

This video demonstrates a procedure for the adoptive transfer of high salt-treated antigen-presenting dendritic cells (DCs) into mice. Murine CD11c+ dendritic cells (DCs) are exposed to a medium containing high amounts of sodium, forming isolevuglandin (IsoLG)-protein adducts in the cells. These adducts serve as neoantigens and are presented on the surface of DCs. The high salt-treated cells are injected into mice through adoptive cell transfer.
