Allogeneic Transplantation Model

An allogeneic transplantation model is an experimental system in which cells, tissues, or organs are transferred between genetically different individuals of the same species, making it useful for studying biological compatibility and immune responses. After transplantation, recipient immune cells recognize donor antigens as foreign and can activate cellular and antibody-mediated pathways that influence graft acceptance, rejection, or tolerance. In biology, these models help researchers investigate histocompatibility, immune regulation, tissue repair, and transplantation outcomes. They also provide a framework for evaluating immunosuppressive strategies and understanding how genetic differences shape interactions between transplanted material and the recipient.

Tail-skin transplantation is a powerful model for studying T cell-dependent rejection and tolerance induction during allogeneic immune responses in mice. The advantages of this protocol are minor invasive surgery, and ease of monitoring with no need to sacrifice the recipient mouse.

Induction of Graft Versus Host Disease in Mouse Models via Allogeneic Bone Marrow and Splenic Cell Transplantation

This video demonstrates the induction of intestinal graft-versus-host disease, GvHD, in a lethally-irradiated recipient mouse using allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells and GvHD-inducing splenic alloreactive T lymphocytes. This protocol helps establish a severe acute intestinal GvHD model to understand the mechanism of the disease and develop innovative therapeutic options.
