Antibody Transfer

Antibody transfer is the movement of immunoglobulins from one individual or biological compartment to another, providing protection without requiring the recipient to produce antibodies independently. This passive immunity occurs when antibodies cross biological barriers, such as maternal immunoglobulin G crossing the placenta or antibodies reaching newborns through breast milk; in research and medicine, purified antibodies can also be administered directly. Transferred antibodies bind specific antigens, neutralize pathogens or toxins, and support immune defense until they are degraded. Studying antibody transfer clarifies maternal and neonatal immunity and informs immunoglobulin therapies, vaccine strategies, and investigations of immune protection.

2015

A method is described with visual accompaniment for conducting scalable, high throughput selections from phage-displayed combinatorial synthetic antibody libraries against hundreds of antigens simultaneously. Using this parallel approach, we have isolated antibody fragments that exhibit high affinity and specificity for diverse antigens that are functional in standard immunoassays.

Overview Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins (Ig), are essential players of the adaptive immune system. These antigen-binding proteins are produced by B cells and make up 20 percent of the total blood plasma by weight. In mammals, antibodies fall into five different classes, which each elicits a different biological response upon antigen binding. The Y-Shaped Structure of Antibodies Consists of Four Polypeptide Chains Antibodies consist of four polypeptide chains: two identical heavy...

(2019)This video demonstrates antibody-dependent enhancement of Zika virus infection in human primary macrophages, using dengue antibody–virus complexes to model how cross-reactive antibodies facilitate Fcγ receptor–mediated viral entry and replication for studying infection mechanisms and immune interactions.

Transfer Pricing

Transfer pricing is the process of setting prices for goods, services, or intangible assets exchanged between divisions, subsidiaries, or related entities within the same organization. Although these transactions occur within a single company, transfer prices are important for evaluating divisional performance, allocating resources, and supporting managerial decision-making. They affect the reported revenues, costs, and profitability of individual business units.Organizations use several...
