Cancer Escape Phase

The cancer escape phase is the stage of cancer immunoediting in which tumor cells evade immune surveillance and continue to grow despite host defenses. During this process, tumor variants with reduced antigen presentation or altered major histocompatibility complex expression may avoid recognition, while cancer cells can suppress immune activity through inhibitory checkpoint signals, immunosuppressive cytokines, and recruitment of regulatory immune cells. Understanding these mechanisms helps explain tumor progression, immune resistance, and differences in patient responses. It also guides the development of immunotherapies that restore T-cell activity, improve tumor recognition, or counteract the suppressive tumor microenvironment.

2015

Feeding difficulties are a common problem for children with developmental disorders, including autism, and behavioral interventions often include escape extinction. Recent research has begun to evaluate treatments that do not include escape extinction. This manuscript describes a multicomponent treatment package that does not use escape extinction to treat feeding difficulties.

Optogenetic Stimulation of Escape Behavior in Drosophila melanogaster

Genetically encoded optogenetic tools enable noninvasive manipulation of specific neurons in the Drosophila brain. Such tools can identify neurons whose activation is sufficient to elicit or suppress particular behaviors. Here we present a method for activating Channelrhodopsin2 that is expressed in targeted neurons in freely walking flies.

Escape Velocity

2025

The escape velocity of an object is defined as the minimum initial velocity that it requires to escape the surface of another object to which it is gravitationally bound and never to return. For example, what would be the minimum velocity at which a satellite should be launched from the Earth's surface such that it just escapes the Earth's gravitational field? To calculate the escape velocity, it is assumed that no energy is lost to any frictional forces. In practice, a satellite launched from...

A protocol for robotic printing of cancer cell spheroids in a high throughput 96-well plate format using an aqueous two-phase system is presented.

Generation of Influenza Virus Escape Variants against Neutralizing Antibodies

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for generating escape variants of neutralizing influenza virus monoclonal antibodies. Antibody-neutralized virus suspension is injected into embryonated chicken eggs to propagate escape variants selectively. This results in a virus population predominantly of escape variants, confirmed via a Hemagglutination assay.
