Cell Culture Chamber

A cell culture chamber is an enclosed, controlled environment used to grow and maintain cells outside the organism, allowing researchers to regulate conditions that support viability and reproducible behavior. It typically stabilizes temperature, humidity, and atmospheric composition, while controlled carbon dioxide levels help maintain the culture medium’s pH through the bicarbonate buffering system; aseptic handling limits contamination. Cell culture chambers support the expansion of primary cells and established cell lines for studying cellular physiology, development, disease mechanisms, and responses to experimental treatments. By providing consistent conditions, they improve experimental control and enable applications in drug testing, tissue engineering, and regenerative biology.

An approach to analyze the migration of explanted cells (trunk neural crest cells) is described. This method is inexpensive, gentle, and capable of distinguishing chemotaxis from both chemokinesis and other influences on migratory polarity such as those derived from cell-cell interactions within the primary trunk neural crest cell culture.
