Fluozin-2

Fluozin-2 is a fluorescent zinc indicator used to detect and visualize labile intracellular Zn2+, a biologically important metal ion involved in signaling, enzyme activity, and cellular regulation. The probe increases its fluorescence when it binds available zinc, allowing changes in intracellular zinc levels to be monitored through fluorescence microscopy or plate-based measurements; its acetoxymethyl ester form can facilitate cellular loading before intracellular conversion to the active indicator. In biology, Fluozin-2 supports studies of zinc transport, storage, release, and dysregulation in living cells, helping researchers investigate metal homeostasis and its relationship to cellular physiology and disease.

ortho–para-Directing Activators: –CH3, –OH, –NH2, –OCH3

2025

All ortho–para directors, excluding halogens, are activating groups. These groups donate electrons to the ring, making the ring carbons electron-rich. Consequently, the reactivity of the aromatic ring towards electrophilic substitution increases. For instance, the nitration of anisole is about 10,000 times faster than the nitration of benzene. The electron-donating effect of the methoxy group in anisole activates the ortho and para positions on the ring and stabilizes the corresponding...
