Foam Core Board

Foam core board is a lightweight panel made from a rigid foam center bonded between paper or plastic facing layers, providing a stable surface for constructing biological models, displays, and laboratory teaching aids. Its strength comes from the facing layers resisting tension and compression while the thicker, low-density core keeps them separated, increasing stiffness without adding substantial mass. In biology, researchers and students can use this material to build anatomical models, ecological dioramas, workflow diagrams, and presentation backings that communicate spatial relationships and experimental findings clearly. It is easy to cut, label, and assemble, although it is generally intended for visualization rather than sterile or load-bearing laboratory use.

Introduction to the Power Pole Board

2023

Source: Ali Bazzi, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. DC/DC converters are power electronic converters that convert DC voltages and currents from a certain level to another level. Typically, voltage conversion is the main purpose of DC/DC converters and three main types of conversion exist in a single converter: stepping up, stepping down, and stepping up or down. Among the most common step-up converters are boost converters (Refer to this collections...

The Nucleosome Core Particle

2020

Nucleosomes are the DNA-histone complex, where the DNA strand is wound around the histone core. The histone core is an octamer containing two copies of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 histone proteins. The paradox Nucleosomes, paradoxically, perform two opposite functions simultaneously. On the one hand, their main responsibility is to protect the delicate DNA strands from physical damage and help achieve a higher compaction ratio. While on the other hand, they must allow polymerase enzymes to access DNA...

2014

Body segmental inertial properties are required for inverse dynamics modeling. Using an oscillation and reaction board technique, inertial properties of below-knee prostheses were measured. Using direct measures of prosthesis inertia in the inverse dynamics model of the prosthetic leg resulted in lower magnitudes of resultant joint forces and moments.
