Gene Function Analysis

Gene function analysis is the study of how genes contribute to cellular processes, organismal traits, and disease. Researchers investigate function by altering gene activity through methods such as gene knockout, knockdown, or overexpression, then measuring changes in gene expression, protein production, cell behavior, or phenotype. Complementary approaches, including sequence analysis, transcriptomics, and genetic screening, help connect genes to biological pathways and interactions. These analyses clarify the roles of individual genes, identify molecular mechanisms underlying health and disease, and support applications in developmental biology, biotechnology, drug discovery, and precision medicine.

We report using an artificial intronic small RNA expression strategy to develop a non-defective recombinant Aedes aegypti densovirus (AaeDV) in vivo delivery system. A detailed procedure for the construction, packaging, and quantitative analysis of the rAaeDV vectors as well as for larval infection is described.
